Inventory


As of 30 September 2022, the total chicken inventory reached 200.21 million birds. This is higher by 5.0 percent compared with the previous year’s inventory of 190.74 million birds. Population of native/improved chicken, broiler chicken and layer chicken grew by 1.4 percent, 10.3 percent and 3.7 percent. Of the total chicken population, native/improved chicken accounted for 41.5 percent, followed by broiler chicken with 35.7 percent share and layer chicken with 22.8 percent share. (Figure 2)

In terms of distribution by classification, 98.5 percent of the total native/improved chicken were raised by smallhold farms, while bulk of broiler chicken and layer chicken stocks came from commercial farms at 97.6 percent share and 95.6 percent share, respectively.

Native/improved chicken inventory was highest in Western Visayas with 12.89 million birds. Central Luzon reported the highest inventory of broiler chicken with 22.16 million birds, while CALABARZON had the highest layer chicken stocks with 16.56 million birds.
